Susan L. Henricks is an innovative leader with exceptional experience managing data, information services, direct marketing and technology companies. With more than thirty-five years in both private and public companies, her experience has shaped her ability to provide deep insight into key strategic and operating issues facing executive management and business today. She is a firm believer in developing leaders across all levels and building collaboration across functional areas by identifying common goals to unite, energize and build companies that produce results.
Susan joined ICAN – the Institute for Career Advancement Needs – as President and CEO in May 2014. ICAN is a non-profit leader development organization dedicated to engaging, educating and inspiring business leaders to make their best contributions to their organizations and communities. After serving on the ICAN Board of Directors since 2012, Susan transitioned to the leadership role to guide the strategic growth, advancement of programs, and expansion of partnership opportunities to bring the work of ICAN to more individuals and organizations in the region and beyond. Susan’s experience as an executive leader within a variety of organizations and industries brings a unique perspective to the work of ICAN.
Prior to ICAN, Susan served in several executive capacities with responsibility for the P&L, growth, human capital, technology and strategy. She was President of the Financial Institution Services business of First Data Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska. Her responsibilities encompassed leading one of First Data’s most successful businesses, serving the top twenty banks and financial institutions, small/regional banks, credit unions and group service providers, with services including the ATM networks, credit card processing and production of statements and plastics.
Before joining First Data, Susan was President of RR Donnelley’s Directories business, a global $8 billion leader in printing and print services in Chicago, Illinois. Susan’s responsibilities included serving publishers in the U.S., U.K., China, Europe and Mexico making her division the largest printer of directories in the world. From 1985 to 1997, Susan was with Metromail Corporation, a direct marketing services company acquired by RR Donnelley. She led the successful IPO effort as President and CEO when Metromail went public again in 1995.
Susan is a current member of the Arbor Day Foundation Board of Trustees. Susan holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and received her M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
